More Zuhair

I just absolutely love Zuhair Murad's taste! Talk about making a woman look and feel like a woman. Nuff said.

The Spring 2014 Luxury Shoe and Handbag Lookbook by Bloomingdales

It's Salvatore Ferragamo!
Bloomingdales calls it "Geometry Lessons". See why? :-) Their Spring 2014 Lookbook for luxury shoe and handbag collections from different designers is out. What I love about the lookbook is that it is colorful among other things. It shouts "Bring in the spring." I don't know about you but I'm excited for the spring. This has been a very painful winter, with some of the worst storms experienced in a long time. Here are some of the pictures from the lookbook, all from Bloomingdales.com. I particularly like the Longchamp bag. I confess I noticed the brand more when Kate Moss started campaigning for it. The Rousseau shoes on the page are a BEAST!!! Love 'em.
From Chloe... don't you just love Chloe?

Kelly Rowland in Love Like a Movie

Okay okay. Love Like a Movie in the title should have been in quotes. Darey Art, the Nigerian artist, last year or so, introduced his Valentine's Day weekend concernt "Love Like A Movie." For the first show, he flew in Kim Kardashian. Nigerians probably preferred his second celebrity guest: Kelly Rowland. Doesn't everyone just love Kelly?

Kelly rocked Ankara outfits. Whether Nigerian-made or made abroad, it was awesome that she rocked something that appealed to the Naija folk. She looked hot on and off stage. People couldn't help but notice her hard-rock abs. Oh, gym, where art thou?

Photos are from Bella Naija (BN).

Familiar Faces at the Burberry Prorsum Fall 2014 Presentation in London

I think it's absolutely hilarious that fashion magazine issues are titled for the month after the magazines get to you. That is, you receive a March 2014 issue in February, but I guess it makes perfect sense in the fashion industry. People want to know what to wear this month, the month before, so they stay in style and in trend with their friends etc. Same thing about fashion shows. You see a fall collection in the spring and vice versa.

I was going through BellaNaija (BN) Style and came across Eku Edewor's picture with Naomie Harris. Naomie was in the 007 movie "SkyFall." Naija girls gat worldwide presence. Well, Eku lived in London for a very long time sha. Enjoy the photos. All are from the BN website.

Not a Wedding Dress for Me: Truly Zac Posen

It's one of my resolutions not to be a downer or talk bad about stuff (, people, etc.) but I had to say something about this Truly Zac Posen collection for David's Bridal. Now, I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So, I'll go ahead and throw it out there. You can see your own style your own way, but I am not a fan of this new collection of Zac Posen's. The whole bustier thing for a wedding dress is coming off a little too strong and obvious for me. I guess I prefer softer and more subtle cuts and silhouettes. The bustier tops draw my attention to the wrong areas... not the boobs... not the woman's waist, but the curve of the bottom of the top (bustier) of the dress.

Then, right below the hip, the obvious end of the fit and beginning of the fish tail is just off! Again, I'm just saying it's not my style but feel free to love it. The prices are good, I guess: David's Bridal. Can't complain there. Just not my style. There are however one or two dresses that made my cut. See the last photo on this post... xoxo

Loving the Vanity Fair's 20th Annual Hollywood Issue Cover

I was just going through my Facebook page and ran into a photo that I absolutely positively love. I mean LOVEEEEE! Lupita is at the center of the photo, looking hot and modestly revealing her six pack underneath her gold dress. But Julia Roberts' long legs emphasized by her pointy black heels, sitting most comfortably on hot Idris Elba's thighs is, I think, the most catching part of the cover. Julia's smile... as radiant and contagious as ever. I love this photo. Words can't express the many sentiments on the faces of such a diverse group of actors on one page... one photograph. Annie Leibovitz did an AMAZING job with the photography.

Talking about Expensive Brassieres

There was this very nice looking bra set on a page of my February issue of Harper's Bazaar: the one with model Darla on the cover. Loved it. Very unique. So, out of curiosity, I went online to see what kinds of stuff the maker carries. Repeating the same things gets boring. Everyone is used to Vicky's Secret. So, something new shouldn't hurt, right? Well, let's just say it depends on your definition of hurt.

Lingerie maker is La Perla. Check out the site. The prices bite. I mean they sting, but they just may be worth it. Up to you. Let me know your thoughts. A few photos and prices below from the site. (I only put up the least seductive photos.)

Elie, Now Zuhair

I thought it was bridal collection season., but it's actually Paris's Haute Couture shows season. I should probably know these things but for now, I don't. Yesterday, I wrote about Elie Saab's collection. Today, it's dear Zuhair Murad. Like Elie, Zuhair went with princess/goddess feel for his models. Here are some of my favorite dresses from the collection. Bella Naija (BN) Bridal got them from Style.com and I in turn, got them from BN Bridal. Enjoy.

Elie Saab's 2014 HOT and TRES Feminine Bridal Collection: Spring/Summer

This has to be the best month of fashion in the past five years or something!!!! I opened my February issue of Elle magazine a few days ago and could hardly put it down. It wasn't anything about the stories, though Elle has some pretty good articles. It was strictly about the styles and fashions in there. Stunned! I saw styles that made me remember why the brand name designers became brand name. I mean Celine, Louis V., Bottega Venneta, Balmain, to name a few. AMAZING styles. This had me longing for my Harper's Bazaar issue.

Then I see Elie Saab's recent bridal collection today. I was swooning over his designs in August, I believe. I love his textures and the femininity of his collection. They make you want to reach out and touch his clothing. I loved just about every dress in his collection. I would be tempted to have one for my big day whenever it comes. Some might call them simple, but not to me... definitely not to me. It's style I love... as I see it. The pictures are from Bella Naija (BN) Bridal, which got the photos from style.com.

Oh My Goodness... but Toke's Wedding Dress Though

My mouth was wide open when I read on BellaNaija... no, it was Linda Ikeji's blog, that Toke Makinwa had gotten married to her longtime lover Maje Ayida. I'm not much for gossip or anything but Toke is a public figure. Her relationship has also been in the limelight and just a few months ago, she and Maje had just about said they were done with each other.

Fast-forward three months and they are married. I daresay they'll be happily married. When you've gone through SOOOOOOOO many trials as a single couple, I think you are ready to go through just about anything in marriage. Marriage is no bed of roses but it's a very intimate and amazing journey when you walk it with the right person. I wish Toke the very very very best. (See me talking like I know her.)

Anyway, why you came to this page... do I or I do not like Toke's dress? Drum roll, please. I absolutely love it. I love it. I love it. I love it. I have a taste for vintage and LACE. Oh my goodness, lace. I don't think I have ever seen a dress like hers before. I know she's saying it's a registry wedding and dress and all. But I am scared (in a good way) that her church wedding dress will likely knock me off my chair. As she shared with Bella Naija (BN), please find some photos of the dress here. Love it!!!!

Ladies of Africa on Africa Magic's 10 Year Anniversary Red Carpet

All the big names were in attendance at Africa Magic's recent celebration of 10 years on screen. Africa Magic is definitely one of the most watched channels with several Nigerian movies (especially) on, back to back to back.

Our celebrities looked stunning. Here are some photos from Bella Naija (BN).

"Bridget Awosika": A Fashion Force to be Reckoned With

Bridget Awosika is now a household name in Nigeria. She has indeed become a formidable force: her concepts and designs are tried and true. I have observed her work in pictures. Every time I see a Nigerian celebrity (like Eku Edewor, Tiwa Savage, Genevieve Nnaji etc.) donning an Awosika outfit, I check it out. I've observed her growth in designs.

This evening, as I was scrolling through Bella Naija: the go-to website for classy Nigerian gossip (if gossip can be made classy), wedding photos and stories, career advice, hot topics etc., I was flabbergasted, positively surprised and proud of a Bridget Awosika piece. Please see below. When you look at it, it may seem like just another outfit, but it's not. It has creativity written all over it: the cut, the silhouette, the choice of color, the choice of fabric FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!

I am amazed. Absolutely positively amazed at her creation. Granted, I prefer it on the model than on Tiwa. But it still shouts "CREATIVE," feminine, chic to me, in both pictures. Sign me up. If it's not over my budget, I'd love to don it to an event. Like, say Music Meets Runway, this week in Lagos. Holla!

Spark Creations from Nigeria, Mozambique, Brazil

I was leafing through my Bazaar magazine as usual and stopped on a jewelry page. I sometimes get tired of seeing the "Le Vian"s and the predictable jewelry companies on the magazines. Forgive me!

I had watched an interview of Nigeria's Chris Aire on CNN Voices: a very inspiring story. If you know nothing about him, know that he is a king of blinged-up jewelry in LA. His kind of jewelry does not appeal to me: I have a different kind of style, but he definitely does his thing. Back to my story, I'm not surprised that I was taken by a jewelry page and seeing "Nigeria" this evening.

Well, the page that caused me to stop is a "Spark" jewelry ad: www.sparkcreations.com. I just visited their site and love what I see. To my taste. ;) If you would like to purchase a piece for me, feel free!
