Do you have any?

A week ago or so, I wrote about not hearing about Manolo. Today, I open Elle Magazine Sept 2013 issue and see Mr. Blahnik on Page 406. His suede pumps, which I like, are directly below his photo. Gwyneth Paltrow and Rihanna have been known to wear these shoes.

How do you feel when you receive the newest issue of your favorite magazine? I know how I feel. Just about as delighted as Sarah Jessica Parker in this Bazaar Sept 2013 cover page. Especially with the over 550 pages of most style magazines this month. I mean: that many pages simply for fashion and style?
I think there's something exciting about perfection on glossy paper. Perfect pictures, seemingly perfect figures and skin... It's a bit of a fantasy. Not the Cinderella or Beauty and the Beast kind. Just a different kind of fantasy.
I can imagine myself all dolled in some of the pictures. Imagine that.
Either way, I'm 100% sure I'm not the only one who feels this way about my fashion magazines.

I have been scouting for a gold skinny belt for like ever. I had one, which was severely damaged by a relative. :( Seeing this photo on Bazaar didn't help either. A good quality skinny belt for a decent price... can't wait to find one I like.
There are dresses for weddings and dresses for shopping. At a wedding this past weekend, a girl wore a gorgeous shirt dress. While something like it is nice enough to wear out with my girlfriends to brunch or shop maybe, I can't dress it up for a wedding. You can't dress it up for a wedding! No ladies. Not with any belt, jewelry or shoes. A shirt dress is a shirt dress-- nothing fancy about one. Unless if Tom Ford or Marc Jacobs does something to change that. We've lost the brilliant Alexander McQueen. I'd have loved to see what he woulda done with a shirt dress concept.
You are wearing a silk gown or short dress to a wedding. You are wearing a female tux to a cocktail. Basically, you want to elecate the balls of your feet in a catchy way. Strappy sandals are the way to go. The way each strap demarcates the skin of your feet will keep eyes on them. The complication comes when your outfit is seriously printed or embroidered. Then you want to make sure your straps don't add too much to your look. Wear with discretion.
Here are pictures of models in strappy sandals from Bazaar September 2013.

The Nov 2010 issue of Glamour Magazine had this picture of a mini dress on page 196. I wore a dress similar to this for my birthday a couple of years ago. It is not only comfortable but works for just about any occasion.
